Different Danosa Acoustic Barriers for sound proofing applications

This DryDirect guide is to help you select the correct Danosa acoustic barrier system for your sound proofing project.

Choosing the correct acoustic barrier system to install in the right application is crucial for effective noise reduction and sound proofing.

Through our partners at Danosa we have a range of high quality, good value for money acoustic barrier systems that are used to reduce unwanted noise in house, flats and apartments:

Soundproofing of Walls and Ceilings

The Danosa MAD membrane system is a great way to achieve sound dampening for wall and ceilings.

The Danosa MAD system is an acoustic membrane for walls and ceilings and is a high density modified membrane. Used as an anti resonant material it is a high density material and an efficient substitute for traditionally used lead sheeting.

Effective in sound proofing application, this membrane works as a resonator and works in absorbing high frequency sounds.

Sound Proofing of dry lining partitions

As well as using the MAD membrane system, the performance of wall acoustic systems are further improved by using the Danosa Fonodan system for partitions.

The Danosa Fonadan system is used to provide a targetted acoustic isolation for studwork partitions, plasterboard frames as well as to service penetrations.

Applied beneath the base of a partition frame, Danosa Fonodan reduces the transmission of sound from and to the solid floor slab.

Soundproofing of solid concrete floors:

To prevent the transmission of sounds through solid floors we recommend Danosa Impactodan. This is a cross linked polyethylene foam sheet available in 5mm or 10mm thick rolls.

Where thermal insulation is required, this is installed first. This could be a system such as Danopren TR100, we can help advise on the suitable thickness to meet your required U Values.

Uninsulated floors can benefit from levelling before application – Koster SL Premium is a great way of levelling damp or problem floor slab.

We supply two thicknesses of the Danosa Impactodan system, both provide great performance with minimal build up.

Impactodan 5 – a super low profile 5mm acoustic membrane which provides protection up to DnTA >50dBA

Impactodan 10 – a higher performance 10mm acoustic membrane which provides protection up to DnTA >55dBA

Joints between the membrane sheets are sealed using Danosa Acoustic Tape 70

The Impactodan Acoustic Membrane is terminated at solid internal walls using Danosa Acoustic Tape 200

A screed topping can then be installed over the acoustic membrane to provide a finished surface.

You can watch a useful installation video of the Impactodan system here.

Soundproofing of timber floors and laminate floors.

To prevent the transmission of sounds through timber, solid wood and laminate boards we recommend Danosa Confordan . This is an acoustic membrane for wooden floors.

Again, where thermal insulation is required, this is installed first. This could be a system such as Danopren TR100, we can help advise on the suitable thickness to meet your required U Values.
